Return Ticket Please! by Makaea

Knowledge: List 5 facts you learnt from the text.

  1. The first person to walk on the Moon was Neil Armstrong in 20 July 1967.
  2. The surface on Venus is 187c.
  3. Scientist think that there might be water under ground on Mars.
  4. Mars is so far away that it will take messages four minutes and twenty seconds to reach us.
  5. Venus air pressure could crush a human body.

Comprehension Why do spacecraft go to Mars and not Venus? What are the problems with sending people to Mars?

Spacecrafts go to Mars because the pressure on Venus could crush them. The surface on Venus is 187C hot enough to melt lead. Mars is one of the planets that people can survive on. At night the temperature seldom reaches 5 c. On Mars dust storms can last for months.

Application Choose four specialist words from the text and find their definition.

  1. Spacecraft means a vehicle used for travelling in space.
  2. Astronauts means a person who is trained to travel in a spacecraft.
  3. Oxygen means a colourless, odourless reactive gas, the chemical element of atomic number 8 and the life-supporting component of the air.
  4. Temperature means the degree or intensity of heat present in a substance or object, especially as expressed according to a comparative scale and shown by a thermometer or perceived by touch.

Analysis Would you like to go on a trip to Mars? Why, or why not?

A reason why I don't want to go to Mars is because of the dust storms and how cold it gets at night. I can't breath oxygen. A reason why I do want to go to Mars I'll be the first kid that went to Mars. I get to experience a different planet. A might get to prove that there was life on Mars.

Synthesis- New Ideas Create a poster/infographic/google drawing about what you have read to put up in the classroom. Include information you have learnt from the text.

Buzzy Bee a choking Hazard - Kayla

Knowledge:List 2  fact from the text
1. The buzzy bee toy is only known because of when Prince William came to New Zealand and had a buzzy bee toy.
2. Did you know that there are heaps of babies that are choking on the toy buzzy bee.

Comprehension
The main thing is that the people that make buzzy bees should make sure that no one can eat anything off of it and make it more safe so if babies but it in there mouth nothing would fall off and choke them. This story should be called the buzzy choke.

Application:Draw three frame picture strip
Babies normally put stuff in there mouth but
You should watch your baby everything it put in its mouth!.

If you buy this test it be for you let your baby have it because parts might fall off and your baby might put it in it mouth.

When you get a toy for your baby make sure that the toy is made so no wheels are going to fall off.

Analysis: Make a flowchart with at least 4 things in it

Synthesis: New ideas write one thing you would changes
The one thing that i would change is that the people that are buy it get to see how's it made and if it made correctly.
Evaluate: Make a judgement and rate the story
I rate this story 8 out of 10 because i don't like reading stuff that have babies choking and that the people who make them should make them better.
